Dogfrisbee is a fun and active dogsport. You can do this sport everywhere yuo like,

on a field in front of your door,  in the park,  on vacation and on the beach,
and you can play it together. It's a great challenge to learn how to throw a frisbee
to your dog and to learn him how to catch it.
The different frisbee throws you use and to learn tricks to use them makes it a
fascinating and interesting sport. It also makes the bond between the handler and the dog
a lot closer by working together and that makes it verry satisfieing.

WHAT IS DOG-FRISBEE ?

Dogfrisbee  is  an  active  sport  for  the dog and his owner and is comming from America.
It was introduced in the Netherlands in 1998 and is played by more and more people,
on a recreatif way aswell as on a official match level.
Meanwile the sport is growing in the whole of Europe an is getting bigger and bigger.
All of the handlers are verry enthousiastic about this type of sporting with your dog.
This is an official dog sport on professional level.
It,s not only a matter of throw and catch but it is also a matter of creating a show with your dog on music,
and let the jury see that you and your dog have lot's of fun doing it.

FREESTYLE

This component has two rounds of 120 seconds each round, So you give two times a show.

You do this togheter with your dog on music (MP 3/CD) that you have selected and brought from home.
The space you've got for your show is approximately 60 by 40 meters.  You have to put up an origional show
so that the jury can see what you can do for throws and tricks with you dog.
The point's  you get are for the dog and for the handler.
There are three different organisations with all there own rules.
At a  USDDN match u can use a maximum of 10 frisbees,
at a UFO match a maximum of 7, and at a Skyhoundz match
there is a maximum of 5 frisbees.

TOSS & FETCH

This component you play in 2 rounds for 90 seconds long with only 1 disc.
It's played on a field of 60 meters long, and the field is divided in blocks of 10 meters.
It's up to you on witch site you start, But once you have started with
your round you can't switch side's.
The time starts when a disc is thrown or when a dog passes the startingline.
The meaning is that the dog catch the disc and return it to you
so you can trow it again for the dog.
When the 90 seconds timelimit starts you can throw as manny
as you can but the "best five" throws scores points (USDDN).
Disc's that lands outside the field don't count, so it's just a matter
of throwing hard and straight between the lines.

Safety

The safety of the dog has always first priorety. Learning to throw correct

under different kinds of weather, prevents injurries for your dog.
Make sure you always start in a straight line, so your dog has to start behind te frisbee.
Always begin with rollers, if you have a puppy. When you've learned how to throw a frisbee and
the dog has learned how to catch a frisbee, you can try to let the dog catch the frisbee in the air.
The jumps higher then the length of the body of the dog,  raise the chance of injurries of
muscle's, tendon's and bones.
Always throw on a flat and soft underground like grass, so don't throw on the streets with you dog.
Don't let the dog eat or drink before a training or match.
Before you start a training or a match always have a warming-up with the dog
and a cooling-down after the training or match.  Let the dog always breath normal
before he get something todrink. When the wether is verry hot (> 20 c)the tempreture of the dog
can quickly rise and the dog can get overheated,  so it's better to have a short training and not to intersive.
If the field is wet, slippery or frozen, then it's better to skip the training or match.
It's better to train a couple of days a week a short time, than once a week for a couple of ours.
Dogfrisbee is a fantastic sport, and when played and traint the right way
the pleasure and fun for you and your dog can go on and on for years.

Saturday 06-05-2006 Ginger got her first frisbee lessons.
At the beginning she was a little scared, but after a while she started to enjoy it and had a lot of fun.
We got special puppy-frisbee's for her, they are a little smaller. Ginger isn't allouwd to jump
at this moment, we are rolling the frisbee over the field for her.
